This model was created for a vtuber* to use in VRChat.
GOAL:
The goal for this model was to match the clients live2D as much as possible. Not only in looks but also certain functionalities.
Challenges:
David's gem head was one of the more difficult things to translate into the 3D for a variable of reason. His head is part of what makes his brand, so getting it correct was very important, not just shape, but texture and material as well. A big issue I had to solve was how to get the gem "realistically" refract light. At first I tried my hand at creating a custom shader which was succesful. I later found that Poiyomi** could do the effect I wanted, so I stuck with that to keep consistency with the other material I used.

The actual process of converting this model into a VRChat avatar was more difficult than I initially thought it would be. I had experience before creating vtuber models for other unity based tracking software but I was shocked at how different the workflow for VRChat was. Additionally testing tracking was difficult because the base webcam tracking is limited compared to other softwares.

Model Statistics
Textures: All were handpainted and between 4k-2k depending on the material, The reason the textures are large is both due to the model being modular and the client would be using this for entertainment purposes where portions of the model may be zoomed in on.
Polygons: 29,962 Tris(Body and Gem) 525 Tris(Emotes)

This section is still under construction, I just wanted to show off this model. More information and images will be added over time.

Credits
Emotes were originally illustrated by Seraphvina for Davids live2D model. I just used them for his 3D model and animated them.

** A custom Unity Shader commonly used by people who use VRChat, Warudo, VNyan and other 3D vtubing software. It is extremely versatile due to the amount of options it gives you.
